A honeymoon safari in our opinion is right up there with being one of the most unique honeymoon experiences in the world. It certainly is one of, if not the, most romantic and adventurous way to kick off the dawn of a new marriage. Our general rule of thumb when considering exactly what to do is to stick to your normal travel personality traits and discuss with us the degree of adventure, luxury and relaxation you feel you may want.
There are a few things that elevate a trip from ordinary to honeymoon category. Private guides and vehicles where possible, remote safari camps in off the beaten track reserves, touches of luxury either at the medium or opulent scale are some of these. Travel and in this case safari needs are very individual. For that reason, we strongly recommend that you get in touch for a “getting to know you” conversation with one of our team, as this is the only way to achieve a truly Tailormade Africa honeymoon experience for you.
Well first of all, well done – you’ve picked the perfect destination to celebrate your honeymoon! We have planned more honeymoons than we can count, and would be only too happy to help you plan yours. The options are endless.
If you’re after a total chill-out, or something more adventurous, the key thing to do is chat with us about your ideas and we can help guide you as to what we think will be the best trip. After all, you’ve done the hard work getting up the aisle so we want you to really enjoy simply being in love!
This is a tough one – there are so many! Cities, towns, game reserves – they all cater beautifully to couples and whether that’s giving you some alone time or being around other like-minded travellers, South Africa has what it takes.
We love Cape Town because it is such a tasty city to visit with some of the finest restaurants and vineyards the continent has to offer. We love the Whale Coast because there is something so magical about walking hand-in-hand down the beach with the possibility of spotting whales in the bay. We love the Garden Route because of all the incredible nature walks you can enjoy, a true adventure haven. And – what’s not to love about all the amazing private game reserves? South Africa has it all.
As a honeymoon destination, South Africa has so much on offer that you will make new and exciting memories with every minute that passes and who better to enjoy that with than your best friend in the whole world?
Being on safari, you’ll have the chance to experience something so magical - seeing nature in its truest and rawest form - that you can’t help but feel loved up! All of the hotels and lodges have a tremendous wealth of experience looking after honeymoon couples that you’ll be in the best of hands… whether that’s a petal turn down when you get in from a full day’s adventure or a bottle of South Africa’s finest bubbly. Trust us – it really is the best.
Weddings are so personal. Why shouldn’t your honeymoon be just as personal? Here at Tailormade Africa, we take special care to dot the I’s and cross the t’s, making sure that every inch of your honeymoon is just as you had ever dreamed it would be.
There isn’t a template that suits everyone and we don’t think there should be, which is why we really do pride ourselves that not a single one of our trips has ever been duplicated! If you want an extra night in the Winelands, let’s get that locked in. Prefer a plunge pool on safari? We’ll sort you out – it’s your trip after all!
As with all of our trips, you can expect to have the time of your life! South Africa as a destination offers something for everyone. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed all year round, and all over the country. If you want something slower with more downtime then that is most definitely possible.
South Africa is also incredibly rich in history and culture, so those who want to come back with a proper understanding of the place will have the chance to be total gurus by the time you get home. Ultimately we want you to have the trip of a lifetime and we’ll help you get it.
The best time is whenever you want it to be! The weather does have a lot to say for the kind of experience you will have, and the main seasons can be starkly different. Winter (June to August) can be very cold at night, with lovely sunny days on safari but in the Cape, these months are typically the rainy season and dry season in the bush. Safari can be remarkable at this time of year, and although you may have a drizzle or two in Cape Town you will have some amazing sightings on safari.
Flip it around when Cape Town is in wall-to-wall sunshine and hot sunny days (November through to April) and you’ll find that the bush is experiencing amazing rainstorms and the foliage is thick and green. Beautiful for photography, amazing from a baby animals perspective but game can be a tad harder to find. Ultimately you let us know when you’re thinking of going and we can advise you as to what to expect – that’s what we’re here for.
