There are six beautiful Cape Dutch style Fynbos Cottages at Babylonstoren, set back from the main area. There are five one-bedroom cottages and one two-bedroom cottage, which we stayed in. Each cottage has it’s own golf cart so you can drive yourself around. We loved this as it gave us independence getting around, and it was a fun way to explore the estate.
On arrival at the cottage, I couldn’t believe what a beautiful place I was stepping into. The entrance to the cottage took me into a big cubed glass kitchen, which brought in an abundance of natural light. The kitchen was very well equipped, and also stocked with Babylonstoren wine, tea and coffee, snacks and a delicious-looking fruit box.
Stepping through into the lounge area, I was greeted by a large fireplace, sofas and an extensive book collection. Doors opened out to stunning views of the Babylonstoren Farm, with a terrace to sit and enjoy the views while sipping on a glass of wine.
At either end of the cottage were the bedrooms. Great, if you are sharing with others as it gives complete privacy. Each tastefully decorated bedroom had a large and stunning en suite bathroom, with beautiful views of the estate. The en suite bathroom had a huge bathtub, fluffy towels and deliciously smelling Babylonstoren bath products to use. There was plenty of storage in the bedrooms, and the bed was extremely comfortable, I slept so well.
One of the things I loved the most about the Fynbos cottages, were the incredible views of the Babylonstoren Farm estate. In front of the cottages was a lake you can row on and there are also views of the beautiful surrounding mountains. There were many different outdoor seating areas at the cottage to sit and relax while taking in the endless views.
There were also other added benefits of staying in the Fynbos Cottages. We were each given a bicycle to explore the estate, which was the perfect way to work off some of that delicious food we had eaten at Babel, the famous restaurant at Babylonstoren.
There was also a pool area, complete with a Pool Room, which is exclusively for guests staying in the Fynbos Cottages. The Pool Room is a lounge and bar area, which provides complimentary coffee, tea, other handpicked drinks and of course, Babylonstoren wine. The Pool Room opens to a deck and a unique combination pool with a crystal-clear swimming pool and a glass-fronted vitality pool and Jacuzzi. In between the other activities we did at Babylonstoren, it was fantastic to be able to relax by the pool with a glass of my favourite Mourvèdre Rosé.
I just loved my stay in the Fynbos Cottages at Babylonstoren. The accommodation was luxurious, spacious and beautiful and so many extra touches that made my stay extra special. I also loved the peaceful setting away from the main area; it certainly had a feeling of exclusivity. I hope to return, and to stay for even longer next time!
