Set within two acres in the residential suburb of Melrose, The Peech is a true boutique hotel offering 32 well appointed guest rooms.
The location feels both private and absolutely central being located near the city's main shopping and business hubs and adjacent to the boutiques, cafés and park of Melrose. The hotel champions responsible tourism by blending awareness for the environment and the community and is also Fair Trade Tourism certified. It has been described as “Contemporary, edgy and Afrocentric” by Condé Nast Traveller was awarded ‘Best City Boutique Hotel’ in Africa at the 2014 World Boutique Hotel Awards. The Peech Hotel is often described as a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Joburg.
Guest rooms are spread throughout lush gardens, with locally inspired interior style that is 'Afri-chic' . Bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, and bedrooms provide plenty of fresh air and natural light, with excellent quality King beds (available as twin also), air-conditioning, desk area and comfortable seating inside and outside, tea/coffee making stations (nespresso machines), flat screen TV's and high-speed WiFi.
Luxury Room
Our new Luxury Rooms (50m2) strike the ideal contrast between bold urban structure, paired with soft, bespoke interiors for ultimate comfort. Cleverly designed to include all that is relevant and functional for modern travellers, these rooms feature beautifully crafted finishes that are both conscious and simple. Stackable glass doors open onto private patios (ground floor) or terraces (first floor), allowing guests to soak up the relaxed outdoor surrounds, whilst enjoying their own privacy. Green living herringbone oak floorboards enhance the light-filled space. Modern and well-appointed bathrooms (with separate loos) with floor to ceiling tiles in monochromatic hues of natural grey, white and black. Generous sized showers (no bath) are a feature, whilst also ensuring water efficiency. Some ground floor rooms offer inter-leading options.
Classic Room
Our Classic Rooms (45m2) are located within three free-standing units, each houses 4 separate guest rooms, including first floor and ground floor options. Rooms have either a private terrace or upstairs patio, with opening doors and windows offering guests access to abundant fresh air and natural light – essential when recovering from long-haul travel and adjusting to a new time zone. Our Classic Rooms have modern ensuite bathrooms including both shower and bath, with luxurious Kalahari amenities. Classic Rooms include flat screen TV’s with DSTV, Nespresso machines, kettle, hairdryer, phone charger and adaptors, desk area, sofa with coffee table and ottoman.
Peech Suite
Our Peech Suites are our most spacious rooms (60m2), and feature extra-large bathrooms with separate loos, and an expansive open-plan living space with sofa and coffee table area. Both Suites have either a patio with private garden terrace, upstairs offers expansive views over the hotels pool area and landscaped gardens. Our Suites include an indoor hanging pod chair. The Peech Suites are ideal for guests seeking extra luxury and space (e.g. honeymooners), or for guests requiring extra space to accommodate young children in extra bed/cot.
Heritage Room
Our Heritage Rooms are located upstairs within the original homestead and main hotel dwelling. Built in the 1950’s, the main house has Heritage status, and these delightful rooms have been restored to retain the original architectural features of the once residential home. Both rooms have ensuite bathrooms with shower and separate bath. These rooms offer sweeping views across the hotels 2 acre garden and central pool area. Our Heritage Rooms can be booked separately, or together they are ideal for a family or families traveling as a group, these upstairs rooms ensure close proximity to our main dining facilities for parents with infants or young children sleeping upstairs.
Peech Villa
Our Luxury 2 Bedroom Villa (90m2) offers a master and second bedroom, with a centrally connecting lounge/TV area, including a slick refreshment station with a mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities. In the same contemporary style as our Luxury Rooms, our Villa features purposefully designed and handcrafted furniture and high-end finishes that are both conscious and functional. Both bedrooms have modern ensuite bathrooms, each with separate toilet. The master bathroom features a free-standing bath, and the second bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Sliding glass doors open into a central outdoor area with a shaded pergola and water feature, an idyllic space for enjoying breakfast outside, or relaxed and private sundowners.
